ORIGIN
Finca Aylés is located in northeastern Spain, near the city of Zaragoza (Aragón), halfway between Madrid and Barcelona and to the south of La Rioja. With deep roots linked to the history of the province, the estate cover +3.000 hectares, making it one of the largest private estates in Spain.
A significant part of the estate is devoted to the Aylés’ wine project. An initiative led by the Ramón Reula family since the 1980s, when they reunified diverse minor estates that had been separated from the original Finca Aylés since the Middle Ages.
PRESENT DAY
Aylés is more than just a winery and a vineyard; it is a well-defined territory in which nature and wine have co-existed harmoniously for centuries.
Monte Negro (“Black Hill”) is the traditional name given to a part of the estate where most of the fauna lives in a protected area designated by the European Union as a Z.E.P.A. (Special Bird Protection Area). Together with the variety of birds, a number of land animals coexist: wild boars, roe deer, foxes, Hispanic goats, rabbits, etc.
In contrast to our most rugged area and in the northern part of the estate, we find the area known as Monte Blanco (“White Hill”), where the winery is located, surrounded in its entirety by our vineyard. The agricultural and faunal potential of the farm is incalculable, supported by two rivers that cross the estate fed by many aquifers. This paradox of a dry, semi-arid land with large underground reserves makes us an oasis in the desert.
All these exceptional characteristics, provide our Protected Designation of Origin D.O.P. wines, with an exclusive personality.
